Mold testing makes sense in a few situations. You smell a musty odor but can't see anything. You had a leak and want to find out if it spread inside the wall. You're buying a home in Spanish Fork with a finished basement that took water before. Or remediation is done and you want proof it worked.
Our mold testing starts with a visual inspection and moisture readings, because mold goes where water goes. A thermal camera and a pin meter show us where walls and floors are wet. Then we take samples. Air samples use a pump and a spore trap cassette, with one sample outdoors as a baseline and others in the rooms of concern. Surface samples are tape lifts or swabs from visible growth.
Samples go to an independent lab. The report lists spore types and counts, and we walk you through what it means. Indoor counts well above the outdoor baseline, or water-damage species like Stachybotrys or Chaetomium, point to a hidden source.
Mold testing isn't always needed. If you can see mold growing on a wall, the answer is to fix the moisture and remove it, and a test won't change that plan. We'll tell you that straight instead of selling a test you don't need.
When testing does point to a problem, our mold remediation crew handles the cleanup, and we can run clearance testing at the end. If the source turns out to be an old leak in a crawl space, our crawl space water removal page explains that fix.
